Start.
This is my second video tutorial and this time we are going to recreate a ladybug from a stock photo. This tutorial will again emphasize on the use of the pen tool, as well as the importance of determining highlights, shadows and midtones. This is pretty much a part two of my first video tutorial. Again, you might wanna visit these previous tutorials: Fireworks Basics and Fireworks: Color, Gradients, Transparencies for a referesher. Here’s the original picture by the way.

And this is the final picture made using Fireworks. Since it’s vector graphics, you can resize the image without pixelating.

Watch the video tutorial (Howcast):
You can also watch the tutorial at Veoh. I’ll try to upload a three-part video on YouTube as they only allow 10-minute videos.
Here’s the .png file from the tutorial. Download file. (right-click, then save as.)
End.

Hi everyone! This tutorial will discuss one of the more versatile customizations that you can do with WordPress – creating your custom pages! By creating custom pages, you can create your own codes and pages, you can also change your default home page, create entirely new pages that does anything that you can imagine outside of the normal WordPress functions. For this blog’s purpose, I am going to create a page that will summarize the tutorials written here. If you’ve noticed, there are two major tutorial categories – one involves graphics and the other involves blogging. For this tutorial, the page will display the tutorials for each particular category. If you noticed, you are going to see 2(two) additional page links at the top of this page- those are the links to the new pages I’ve created for this blog. Let’s get started. Like what I’ve promised, here’s a tutorial on highlights, midtones, gradients and overlay. It’s my first video tutorial! This tutorial uses the pen tool - you might want to read these two previous tutorials on Fireworks, before you proceed if you’re not comfortable using the pen tool.

Setting Up Nameservers

Start.
I have finally decided to buy my own domain name, cajentutorials.com. I had to mull over it for a couple of days, but if you want to have branding and web presence, you absolutely NEED to have your own domain name. The process of selecting your domain name is of utmost importance as you and your site will be known by that name. This post from NetBusinessBlog helped me at arriving at a more informed decision. It lists advantages of having a .com domain over any other domains out there.
This tutorial is brief and involves setting up your nameservers once you have your own domain. I purchased my domain at Geek Domains, they have the cheapest recurring domain pricing I’ve seen @ $6.95/yr + $0.20 ICANN fee. My total is $7.15 for one year.
UPDATE: As Robert suggested, you also have the option of signing up for a free domain.
Anyway, now that I have my domain, I need to setup my nameservers, that way the domain will point to my free webhosting!
If you are planning to purchase your own domain and host it at 000webhost, you are gonna need to do the following. First, login to your 000webhost control panel and create a new account. For the domain, enter your new domain name and assign a password for it.

Adding a Google Custom Search Engine

This is the second and concluding part of this tutorial. Please read the first part, if you haven’t already. Alright, now that we have created, and customized our Google Custom Search Engine, we are now ready to add it to our page. This is how it’s going to work. We need to create a page, within our blog, where the search results will be displayed. Then we are going to customize Wordpress’ built-in search engine and change it to the one we just created in Google. Let’s get to work.
First we are going to learn how to add a page to our blog. This page will display the search results from Google. Adding pages offers the flexibility of customization (which we will discuss in a later topic). Open your favorite text editor, or web page software. I use Dreamweaver. Make sure that the file is empty. Delete any header, if there are any. Dreamweaver usually appends a header and a body tag – delete it. Then type the following code:

Then we need to add your search form code snippet that Google provided you with. To get it, go to Google Custom Search’s control panel and click on code. Read the rest of this entry »
