Like what I’ve promised, here’s a tutorial on highlights, midtones, gradients and overlay. It’s my first video tutorial! This tutorial uses the pen tool - you might want to read these two previous tutorials on Fireworks, before you proceed if you’re not comfortable using the pen tool.

Fireworks: Color, Gradients and Transparencies

Howdy everyone! As I’ve mentioned in my previous post in this series, we are going to discuss colors, gradients and transparencies in Fireworks. Open your fireworks and create a new document. Create an ellipse using the ellipse tool found on the left side. To create a perfect circle, press and hold SHIFT while creating the ellipse.
Now look at your properties panel. It should be just below your drawing area, if you can’t see it, press CTRL-F3.
On the leftmost part, you can adjust the objects size and location on the canvass. Straightforward. Next set of icons allow you to change the objects color fill as well as fill type. Read the rest of this entry »

Hello everyone! I hope everyone’s doing fine today. I will be starting my first tutorial series on graphics. I use Adobe Fireworks – very easy and intuitive in my opinion. I will be touching on the basics of the tools available for us. In the succeeding posts, we are going to know them more intimately.
I draw with vector graphics. You can google vector graphics to get a grasp of what it means as opposed to raster graphics, but all in all – vector graphics is considered lossless – because transforming (enlarging, zooming) vector graphics will not cause the unsightly blurring that happens with raster graphics. You can create any graphics of any size that you are comfortable with, and resize it later without fear of losing any clarity or detail. As such, I will be discussing with you several vector tools. Open fireworks and create a new document. Pick any size and choose white as your background. On the left pane, you should see a couple of icons.

Hey guys, sorry for the long absence. I was recently confined due to Herpes Zoster. Apparently, its the same virus that causes chicken pox, but this time those critters decided to use my nerves as their new home. The pain is exquisite.
In any case, I am now well. And in the next few days, I’ll be posting a couple of tutorials.
On blogging - we are going to add a customized search form, using Google’s custom search.
On graphics - I am going to introduce you to fireworks, and ill be touching on the basics,
and a couple of life series as well.
