I signed up for PPP

I have been finally approved for PayPerPost! The first time I applied, I was declined though because my blog hasn’t seen 90 days yet. However, much to my surprise, PayPerPost has decided to change the terms of approval – instead of 90 days, your blog only needs to be 30 days old with at least 10 post within those 30 days! I wasted no time and re-submitted my blog. Within 12 hours (yes, they are fast), I’ve got an email saying that I got approved!
Before I get ahead of myself, what exactly is PayPerPost? PayPerPost offers opportunities to blog publishers of earning extra income by posting topics from advertisers. For example, with this post, I am being paid $20.00! Don’t worry though, each sponsored post will have a disclosure at the end to let you know that it’s a paid post. What’s more, you get to choose which stuff to blog about. It’s easy to sign up and as long as your blog is 30days old with at least 10posts, approval is a breeze.

A lot of advertisers are turning to bloggers for blog advertising these days. And PPP serves as the contact point for these advertisers and you, the bloggers. Go ahead, give it a try and sign up today. If you are a regular blogger, and writing is your passion – then might as well get paid to do it.

Adding a Google Custom Search Engine

Start.

This is the second and concluding part of this tutorial. Please read the first part, if you haven’t already. Alright, now that we have created, and customized our Google Custom Search Engine, we are now ready to add it to our page. This is how it’s going to work. We need to create a page, within our blog, where the search results will be displayed. Then we are going to customize Wordpress’ built-in search engine and change it to the one we just created in Google. Let’s get to work.
First we are going to learn how to add a page to our blog. This page will display the search results from Google. Adding pages offers the flexibility of customization (which we will discuss in a later topic). Open your favorite text editor, or web page software. I use Dreamweaver. Make sure that the file is empty. Delete any header, if there are any. Dreamweaver usually appends a header and a body tag – delete it. Then type the following code:

Then we need to add your search form code snippet that Google provided you with. To get it, go to Google Custom Search’s control panel and click on code. Read the rest of this entry »

Creating a Google Custom Search Engine

Start.

Hello everyone! So how are your blogs going? I’d love to see one of yours, so please do drop me a line and i’ll visit them. We might even do a link exchange.

In this 2-part entry, we are going to add a useful tool for your blog. A search engine. Your wordpress has a built-in search engine. However, in this tutorial we are going to use Google’s custom search engine. That way we can potentially earn money while using the most widely-used search engine. To start, if you haven’t already, register an account with Google Custom Search. Registration and setup should be easy as Google makes it quite user-friendly. After registration, click Create a Custom Search Engine. Fill in the boxes to your liking. Feel free to customize yours depending on your site/blog content. You can also specify certain sites that you’d like to be emphasized when displaying search results (you can add your own site here); also choose the free edition (Standard), unless you want the paid service. Submit.

On the next page, assuming there are no errors, you should get a congratulatory message telling that you have successfully created the search engine. Read the rest of this entry »
